Job summary

City of Hope in Irvine, CA seeks a Clinical Nurse III for an 8-bed Evaluation and Treatment Center to provide urgent oncologic care.

The role involves rapid assessments, triage, stabilization, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, individualized care. Night shifts with differential up to $6.50/hr and weekend differential up to $15.60/hr are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• CA Registered Nurse License is required.
• 3–5 years of experience in urgent care or emergency room.
• BLS certification at time of hire.
• ACLS certification at time of hire.
• ONS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for patient care.
• Assesss patient conditions, recognize early signs of complications, escalate of care when necessary, and coordinate with inpatient, outpatient, and palliative teams.
• Administering specialized medications, monitor treatment responses, manage central lines and infusion devices.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation.
• Prioritizes holistic care, addressing both physical and emotional needs of the patients.
• Serves as a mentor and role model to new staff members.
• Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Integrates and practices according to City of Hope Professional Practice Model to deliver care service excellence.

We are seeking experienced nurses for our 8-bed Evaluation and Treatment Center (ETC) at City of Hope Orange County Cancer Specialty Hospital as a Clinical Nurse III in the ETC you will provide compassionate care to our oncology patients who are requiring urgent evaluation and intervention.

This role is vital in addressing acute symptoms related to cancer, treatment side effects, and oncologic emergencies.

The Clinical Nurse III performs rapid assessments, triage, and stabilization with strong understanding of oncology pathophysiology and the unique needs of immunocompromised patients.

You will collaborate closely with physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team, the Clinical Nurse ensure timely, individualized care that prioritizes both safety and the dignity of the patient.

The position requires clinical expertise, strong critical thinking, emotional resilience, and a deep commitment to supporting patents and families.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Your qualifications should include:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3 – 5 years related experience (urgent care or emergency room)
• Current CA Registered Nurse License
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association
• ONS certification is highly preferred
