Job summary

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Pasadena is seeking a Clinical Nurse II, Procedural, for day shifts. The role provides individualized nursing care before, during, and after procedures, collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Assoc. Degree/College Diploma in Nursing (minimum)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
• 2 years nursing experience minimum (5 years preferred)
• Experience in gastroenterology practice or endoscopy center or unit preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and completes an assessment of patient needs to provide supportive care before, during and after procedures.
• Maintains accurate and complete medical records and assists with completing the procedure log.
• Clearly and accurately communicates pertinent information to physicians and co-workers.
• Provides a safe environment for the patient to prevent injury.
• Investigates and intervenes in problem situations, reporting information to supervisor as appropriate and providing complete and accurate documentation.
• Follows Standard Precautions and uses personal protective equipment as appropriate and required.
• Maintains equipment and supplies, including cleaning and disinfecting endoscopy equipment and testing the functionality of monitoring equipment.
• Administers oral and IV medications and pharmaceuticals safely and accurately.
• Ensures informed consents are understood and signed prior to sedation.
• Assists the physician in the performance of procedures and monitors patients under Conscious Sedation/Analgesia.
• Maintains sterility and cleanliness of the procedure room and ensures equipment is ready before procedures.
• Escalates situations beyond capability and reports errors as needed.
• May be cross trained for pre- and post-operative nursing care as required.
• Other duties as assigned

The Clinical Nurse II, Procedural provides individualized and specialized nursing care to patients in accordance with physician's orders, recognised nursing techniques, legal aspects of current nurse practice within the state of California and Center policies and procedures. Functions collaboratively with physicians and staff, exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrates initiative, insight and sound judgment in decision-making.

• Accountable for administering oral and IV medications and pharmaceuticals in a safe and accurate manner.
• Ensures that informed consents are understood and signed prior to the administration of sedation.
• Assists the physician in the performance of procedures.
• Monitors patients receiving Conscious Sedation/Analgesia.
• Responsible for maintaining the sterility and cleanliness of the procedure room and for setting up and testing the functionality of endoscopy equipment prior to the start of the procedure.
• Escalates situations beyond capability or job responsibilities to appropriate personnel. Reports and communicates errors
• May be cross trained to provide pre and post-operative nursing care. Patients may require pre-operative nursing care prior to setting up and working in the procedure room. Assistance in the post-operative care area may also be required. Once trained to work in pre-and post-operative area may be assigned to cover lunches, breaks or full shifts as needed.

Education

• Assoc. Degree/College Diploma Nursing - minimum
• Bachelor's Degree Nursing - preferred

Experience

• 2 years Nursing experience - minimum
• 5 years Nursing experience - preferred
• No experience required Experience in gastroenterology practice or endoscopy center or unit preferred - preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN State License - Upon Hire minimum Current CA state license to practice as a Registered Nurse required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS) - Upon Hire minimum Advance Cardiac Life Support certification required
