Job summary

UNC Health Care in Raleigh, NC seeks a Clinical Nurse to provide competent nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating care using the nursing process. The Nurse reports to the Nurse Manager/Director and participates in education, evaluation, planning and discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team.

The role requires RN licensure in NC, BLS certification, and a minimum of one year of nursing experience. The position is full time, onsite with day shifts and a 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify and meet learning needs of self; attend education programs as needed.
• Evaluation of care: identify expected outcomes and revise plans with team input.
• Implementation: provide care for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point of care testing; follow policies and procedures.
• Leadership: set professional goals and collaborate with team; promote cost-effective care; support unit goals.
• Patient assessment: recognize data to determine care priorities and plan for discharge needs.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family to update the care plan; engage multidisciplinary resources.
• Research: review journals and bring ideas to staff for assessment.
