Job summary

UCI Health is seeking an Operating Room Nurse to design, coordinate and deliver care for patients undergoing operative procedures. The nurse may act as scrub or circulating, and may float between UCI Health locations as needed.

The role includes acting as a role model to students and new nurses and additional patient care coordination as requested. Required six months of perioperative acute-care nursing experience, knowledge of aseptic technique and equipment, and an RN license in California

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Minimum six months recent perioperative acute-care nursing experience.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and infection control.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• RN license in California and Basic Life Support certification.

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary: The Operating Room Nurse uses the nursing process, to design, coordinate, and deliver patient care that meets the identified needs of patients having operative procedures. May act as scrub or circulating nurse in various procedures. Acts as a role model to nursing students, and new nurses to the unit. Functions as a Pt. Care Coordinator as requested. Required to float between all UCI Health locations as needed.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed


• Minimum of six months recent nursing experience working in an acute-care perioperative environment


• Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels


• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing


• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays


• Ability to scrub and circulate in most surgical specialties

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience working in a Level I Trauma Center


• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families


• BSN and CNOR

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse


• Basic Life Support
