Job summary

UCI Health in California is seeking a clinical nurse who will provide direct patient care, assessment, planning, and education for patients across our clinics. The role requires flexibility to float to all UCI Health locations and to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required are a BSN, current California RN license, and certifications (PALS per hire, BLS, ACLS). Experience in interventional GI and strong English communication are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required for external candidates

Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

Reporting to the Administrative Nurse, the clinical nurse provides patient care to an assigned group of patients focusing on meeting the clinical needs of the clinic. Incumbent will perform patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists with procedures and patient education. The nurse incorporates the psycho‑motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.

Required to float to all UCI Health Location as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Required to float to all UCI Heatlh locations as needed.
• PALS certification upon hire
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Minimum of 6 months demonstrated nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting
• Knowledge and practice of body mechanics
• Knowledge and practice of age related acuity levels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• 2 years current Interventional GI experience
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of JCAHO requirements
• Previous experience in medical surgical ICU
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
• Experience in Gastroenterology
• Demonstrated GI/endoscopy experience
• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Licenses and Certifications

• Current California RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• PALS certification upon hire
