Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Minimum of three years of clinical practice in the specialty area.
• Knowledge and application of adult learning principles.
• Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor).
• Demonstrates complex decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes assessment tools to measure staff knowledge and skill in core nursing practices.
• Collects data on employee learning needs through observation, interviews, focus groups, and instruments.
• Interprets strategic imperatives to design education supporting goals.
• Recommends deployment of educational resources to meet organizational objectives.
• Collaborates to develop an annual educational calendar.
• Contributes to design of preceptor education and development initiatives.
• Prepares objectives, lesson plans, handouts, modules, manuals and tests.
• Serves as faculty in organization-wide education events as appropriate.
• Evaluates learning activities and recommends education plan adjustments.
• Uses tools and testing methods to assess changes in knowledge and practice; links to quality projects.
• Develops measures to collect performance data and integrates findings into programs.
• Researches funding sources and submits proposals to expand educational programs.
