Position Summary

East Valley Surgery Center is a small outpatient surgery center with a close‑knit clinical team. It has two ORs and one procedure room that service specialties including ENT, orthopedics, endoscopy, ophthalmology, urology, general surgery, and gynecology. The role is a PRN OR RN Circulator working 1–8‑10‑hour shifts on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The center is closed on Tuesdays, Fridays, and weekends/holidays. The daily case load is highly variable, so flexibility and potential cancellations are expected. Minimum one year Operating Room experience with Periop 101 training is required and new graduates are not considered.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct nursing assessments of patients and families using multiple platforms, incorporating physical, psychological, social, developmental, and educational factors to determine diagnoses and develop plans of care.
  • Implement plans of care in accordance with regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide health education related to health promotion and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Coordinate care and manage transitions within the organization and community, collaborating with the health‑care team, patients, and families to promote positive outcomes and prevent complications.
  • Advocate for patients and families, offering support and guidance related to navigating ambulatory services, resource management, and community‑based services, and helping set realistic goals and expectations.
  • Continuously evaluate patient understanding and response to the plan of care, share observations with the team, and modify plans as needed; document all in the medical record.
  • Facilitate the delivery of safe patient care, monitor quality and regulatory indicators, and work with leaders to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Supervise patient care activities of assigned team members, delegate tasks appropriately, provide timely feedback, and review care delivery to maintain safety, infection control, and a therapeutic environment.
  • Ensure compliance with medication, storage, and documentation standards and regulations.
  • Foster a positive learning environment through mentorship and training of students and new employees.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Two‑year (ADN) degree in nursing, a four‑year BSN, or a Nursing Diploma.
  • Minimum one year Operating Room experience with Periop 101 training.
  • Current state of Arizona RN license or an equivalent compact license.
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider.
  • Required certifications include Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition & Stabilization (PEARS), to be obtained within 90 days of entry.
