Job summary

State of Oklahoma’s 131 Department of Corrections seeks a Certified Medication Aide to provide direct and indirect nursing care under supervision in a correctional setting. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, delivering medications, charting, escorting patients, and assisting with daily living activities in a clinic or institutional environment.

Level I describes tasks under close supervision; Level II expands duties to include broader nursing tasks and handling lab specimens.

Qualifications

• Education and experience required at Level I is Certified Medication Aide licensure.
• Education and experience required at Level II consists of one year of experience in providing patient care and Certified Medication Aide licensure.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct nursing tasks including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living and hygiene needs, and obtaining certain lab specimens.
• Charts observations and activities, reporting pertinent changes in the patient’s condition.
• Performs delegated or other specialized functions as educationally prepared.
• Escorts patients to and from various destinations.
• Assists in maintaining and providing a clean, safe environment.
• Orders, receives and stores supplies and performs basic clerical functions.
• Participates in follow-up activities and tracking clients and performs other related tasks.
• Tracks and orders patient medications.
