Job summary

Stony Brook Administrative Services seeks a Medical Assistant for a full-time position at Pulmonology - New York Pulmonary Consultants. You will support physicians with patient care, perform clinical tasks, and handle clerical duties to ensure smooth patient flow.

Requirements include a Medical Assistant diploma or equivalent, high school diploma, and certifications in EKG and phlebotomy; EMR experience and medical terminology knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program.
• Appropriate certifications in medical assisting, EKGs and phlebotomy.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
• Computer skills including EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules, organize patient flow, and room patients.
• Collect patient history including medications and reason for visit; chart in EMR.
• Check vital signs and perform basic measurements and EKGs.
• Set up equipment, maintain clean exam rooms, and restock supplies.
• Assist with minor procedures and handle specimens; perform CLIA waived tests.
• Send/receive medical records and obtain lab/test results.
• Ensure physician reviews results promptly and follow up as directed.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Other duties as necessary.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Medical Assistant Diploma

Certifications in Medical Assisting, EKGs and Phlebotomy

Knowledge of Medical Terminology

Computer skills including EMRs
