Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital in Maple Heights, OH is seeking a Medical Assistant for a full-time, on-site Day Shift position. The role provides clinical and administrative support under a Provider and/or licensed Nurse, with a $2,000 sign-on bonus (taxable) available.

Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, lab specimen handling, and EPIC documentation, plus front-d desk tasks and care coordination. Requires MA program, BLS, and medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Program, EMT or Paramedic Program is required.
• BLS training from the American Heart Association is required.
• Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
• No prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed; administers medications as directed by Providers.
• Collects data contributing to patient assessments and discharge plans under supervision.
• Collects, processes, and submits laboratory specimens.
• Communicates patient findings to Provider/ Nurse and documents in EPIC.
• Accurate and timely documentation of care in EPIC.
