Qualifications

• Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program or accredited Nursing Program or be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
• Those that were hired prior to 2018 are grandfathered from the educational and/or certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides directly and through delegation patient care for facility clients.
• Ensures that medical records are completed, accurate and updated.
• Initiates patient contact and prepares patient for examination; obtains vital signs and history.
• Observes patients with abnormal signs and communicates their condition to the physician and documents.
• Assists physician in applying splints and dressings; prepares for minor surgeries and immunizations.
• Distributes patient education materials and ensures patient understanding of treatment and medication usage.
• Maintains laboratory log and ensures exam rooms are stocked and cleaned.
