Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Technologist Trainee for Burlington, NC, on 1st shift (Tue–Sat, 10:00am–6:30pm). New grads welcome with full training provided. You will participate in specimen testing, equipment troubleshooting and quality control to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing per SOPs.
• Perform routine and complex testing procedures.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instruments.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely results for patient care.
• Perform preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

Together, we’re improving health and improving lives. Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team in Burlington, NC. Work Schedule: 1st shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00am-6:30pm. Able to work overtime. Holiday schedule on rotation.

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• Urinanalysis experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
