Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team at our RTP, NC facility. Shifts: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00pm–6:30am. The role involves performing routine and complex testing, ensuring quality results and maintaining equipment.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or Medical Technology, and 1 year of lab testing experience or an MLS degree. Preference given to certification (ASCP/AMT) and recent high-volume lab experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • MLS degree acceptable in lieu of experience.
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures per SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate test results to ensure quality patient care.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join our team at our facility in RTP, NC.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 10:00pm-6:30am

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
