Qualifications

• Education to obtain and maintain Nevada Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure per criteria.
• Recent general clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Required certifications: MLS (ASCP) and Nevada State General Supervisor License.
• Preferred certifications: MLS (ASCP) and Nevada State General Supervisor License.
• Special skills emphasize accuracy and safety in a clinical lab setting.
• Supervises: Medical Technologist holds administrative authority for duties.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special laboratory tests.
• Recognizes test inconsistencies and takes corrective action.
• Calls critical test results to physicians or nurses immediately per criteria.
• Performs quality-control tests and logs issues; reports unresolved problems.
• Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting; documents checks and maintenance.
• Helps evaluate new techniques for space, personnel, cost, and reference intervals.
• Writes and revises technical procedures and conducts in-service classes.
• Performs clerical functions across Phlebotomy, General Laboratory, Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, Blood Bank and Microbiology.
• Performs specimen collection and processing as needed per phlebotomy policies.
• Utilizes infection control techniques and standard precautions.
