Job summary

LabCorp seeks a Technologist Trainee to join our RTP, NC facility. This entry-level role provides hands-on training in core laboratory operations, including specimen handling, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records.

You will work with Flow Cytometers, Slide Stainer and CBC analyzers under supervision to develop practical skills. New grads are welcome; full training is provided and the path can lead to ASCP/AMT certification opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Proficiently perform the principal functional responsibilities of Technician duties as necessary.
• Verify proper and consistent identification of specimens prior to and during all accessioning and processing steps.
• Record initials on all paperwork to indicate work performed by individual.
• Notify Senior Technologist, Team Lead, Supervisor, Lab Manager or Lab Director of identification discrepancies and document action taken.
• Operate Flow Cytometers, Slide stainer and CBC analyzer instruments to perform assigned duties.
• Test specimens completely, accurately and within established time frames.
• Understand and follow established testing procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.

LabCorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team at our facility on RTP, NC.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 2:30pm - 11:00pm

Job Responsibilities

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
