Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our Allergy team located in Burlington, NC. The work schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 10:00am-6:30pm, and the role focuses on specimen testing, SOP adherence, and maintaining quality control.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science or related field. Preferred candidates have 3+ months of clinical laboratory testing experience and ASCP/AMT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures Ability to work independently and within a team environment Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position Able to pass a standardized color blindness test Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
