Job summary

Labcorp in Wichita, KS seeks a Clinical Lab Professional to join Ascension Via Christi St. Francis. The role supports daily lab operations with rotating weekends and holidays on a 10:30 PM–6:30 AM schedule, contributing to accurate specimen testing and patient care.

Responsibilities include performing routine and complex testing, instrument troubleshooting, reagent evaluation, and quality control. Requires a science degree, MLS or equivalent, and LIS familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology with 1 year or more of clinical lab testing experience or MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and within a team; familiarity with LIS; strong communication and organizational skills; able to pass a color vision test; overtime flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Proficient with computers
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
