Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Laboratory Technician to join our Tryon Medical Partners team in Charlotte, NC. You will determine the acceptability of specimens, perform procedures per SOPs, monitor instrumentation, and ensure accurate test results to support patient care.

Qualifications include an associate degree in a chemical or biological science and 6+ months of clinical lab testing experience in hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and chemistry; ASCP/AMT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 6 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience with Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Chemistry
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience ASCP or AMT certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team at Tryon Medical Partners, located in Charlotte, NC!

Qualifying Medical Technologists

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-8:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 6 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience with Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Chemistry
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
