Job summary

Labcorp is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital - Franklin in Franklin, Wisconsin. The role is on the 3rd shift (9:30pm–7:30am) with occasional holidays or weekends as needed.

The successful candidate will determine specimen acceptability, perform complex procedures, monitor instruments and document results to deliver high-quality patient care. A 2-year degree in a chemical/biological science is required, with ASCP/AMT certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience as an MLT.
• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers.
• High level of attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our team at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital - Franklin in Franklin, Wisconsin

Work Schedule: 3rd shift; 9:30pm -7:30am weekdays and alternating holidays and weekends. Start and end time may adjust at the request of management.

Job Responsibilities:

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
• 1 year or more of experience as a MLT generalist
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards:

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
