Job summary

UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Specimen Processing Team. You will handle specimen processing, blood draws, and related computer tasks to support accurate patient diagnoses.

The role emphasizes customer service, training new staff, and contributing to quality and accreditation standards in a dynamic hospital lab environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience or completion of an approved laboratory assistant course.
  • MA-P certification with WA DOH or obtained within 180 days of start date.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen processing duties including receiving, sorting, and prioritizing specimens and requests.
  • Match specimens to requisitions, centrifuge and aliquot specimens, and process timed urine collections.
  • Perform blood draws on patients and document results and entries for reference lab testing.
  • Provide customer service by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries from patients, clients, and staff.
