Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join the Invitae Genetics lab in San Francisco, CA. The role focuses on high-complexity molecular testing across multiple platforms, under SOPs, with responsibilities spanning specimen handling, QC/QA, reagent prep, instrument maintenance, and oversight of Laboratory Technicians.

Minimum qualifications include a California CLS Generalist or CGMBS license and a relevant bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• California state CLS Generalist license or CGMBS license.
• CGMBS license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens for Invitae, part of Labcorp.
• Handle, process, test and record results per SOPs.
• Identify issues affecting test quality and escalate for resolution.
• Support quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Maintain laboratory supplies and inventory.
• Prepare reagents and perform instrument maintenance.
• Supervise technicians and participate in training and competency assessments.
• Contribute to verification and validation studies for new equipment and processes.

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our Invitae Genetics lab in San Francisco, CA.

Work Schedule

Tues - Sat, 3:00pm-11:30pm

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing high-complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens across various molecular assays and platforms for Invitae, part of Labcorp
• Performs clinical laboratory specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, and records maintenance according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Identifies any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution
• Assists with quality control and quality assurance activities
• Maintains appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory
• Prepares reagents and performs instrument maintenance
• Oversees Laboratory Technicians performing clinical activities (in accordance with state regulations)
• Participates in trainings and competency assessments of other technologists
• Participates in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transfer
• Maintains a safe work environment and wears appropriate personal protective equipment
• Participates in continuing education credits

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• California state issued Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) Generalist license or California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License (CGMBS)

Preferred Qualifications

• California state issued CGMBS license
• 2 or more years’ experience working as a CLS or Medical Technologist
• 1 or more years’ experience working in a clinical molecular biology lab performing DNA sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or high-complexity molecular techniques
• 6 months experience or more using liquid handlers

Additional Job Standards

• Proficient with computers
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Pay Range

• Pay Range: $50.00 - $66.26 per hour

Plus 2nd shift differential

All job offers will bebased on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicabledegrees/certifications,as well as internal equity and market data.

• Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
