Job summary

LabMinds Staffing & Recruiting, LLC is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in Montana. The role reports to the Laboratory Manager and involves day/evening shifts with on-call rotations, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities span specimen testing, QC/QA, and performance improvement across laboratory sections. Candidates must hold a MT license, ASCP or equivalent certification, and have broad experience in microbiology and immunohematology.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related clinical laboratory science discipline.
• Active Montana Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
• ASCP or equivalent national certification required.
• Experience across all laboratory areas with strong microbiology and immunohematology (blood bank).
• Proficiency with specialized analyzers, general laboratory equipment, and computer systems.
• Knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, compliance guidelines, and budgeting.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and establish new testing procedures.

• Specimen testing and analysis across laboratory sections using automated analyzers.
• Oversee QC, QA, and proficiency testing processes.
• Participate in facility-wide quality and performance improvement initiatives.
• Provide unsupervised coverage during on-call shifts and scheduled night/weekend rotations.

Position Overview

Role: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Shift: Day/Evening (includes night, weekend, and on-call rotations)

Reports To: Laboratory Manager

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related clinical laboratory science discipline.


• Licensure: Active license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the State of Montana.


• Certification: ASCP or equivalent national certification required.


• Experience & Technical Skills: * Experience across all areas of the laboratory, with strong familiarity in Microbiology and Immunohematology (Blood Bank). * Proficiency with specialized analyzers, general laboratory equipment, and computer systems.


• Regulatory & Operations: Knowledge of CLIA standards, HIPAA regulations, compliance guidelines, and departmental budgeting.


• Key Abilities: Ability to work productively without direct supervision, research and establish new testing procedures, and maintain cooperative relationships across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Specimen Testing & Analysis: Prepare biological specimens, operate automated analyzers, perform manual testing following exact procedures, and evaluate test results across all laboratory sections.


• Quality Management: Oversee departmental Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Proficiency Testing (PT) processes.


• Performance Improvement: Participate in facility-wide quality and performance improvement initiatives.


• Operational Coverage: Provide unsupervised coverage during on-call shifts, as well as scheduled night and weekend rotations.
