Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with Super User/Analyst/Administrator experience to support the NIH in Bethesda, MD. The role is a day shift, Monday–Friday, with on-call rotations for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve non-routine LIS/IT projects.

You will modify LIS software, troubleshoot issues, coordinate CRIS upgrades, and collaborate with reference labs and vendors to ensure interface integrity across environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of full-time specialized clinical laboratory experience.
• NAACLS-accredited CLS program or other recognized body at time of degree.
• Minimum 2+ years of LIS experience at Super User/Analyst/Administrator level.

Responsibilities

• Modify and maintain LIS software; create/modify tests; test changes; validate mappings; troubleshoot LIS issues.
• Identify and resolve LIS access problems; coordinate with IT and LIS vendor.
• Coordinate CRIS upgrades/updates; validate CRIS change requests across LIS environments.
• Work with reference lab interfaces; monitor and troubleshoot interfaces to ensure data integrity.
• Validate new test requests/interfaces and coordinate lab test updates with stakeholders.

Travel Required: None Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain Public Trust We are currently searching for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with Super User, Analyst, or Administrator-level experience working with a clinical hospital laboratory information system (LIS) to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD. This is a day shift position Monday through Friday with on-call rotations to cover evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The individual may also be required to work non-routine shifts to accommodate special LIS/IT projects.

What You Will Do:

• Modify and maintain Laboratory Information System (LIS) software as assigned by the Laboratory Information Manager, including: Create new tests and modify existing tests as required. Test and implement system modifications and enhancements. Assist with organization and validation of mapping structure for all tests in LIS. Troubleshoot any identified LIS issues as assigned. Make security changes for employees. Interact with all LIS/CRIS users and members of other CC departments.
• Identify computer problems and communicate them to IT personnel when necessary. Identify and resolve problems with LIS access through Citrix. Assist in incorporating LIS competency into laboratory Staff operations. Communicate with the LIS vendor to enter tasks as directed.
• Assist with the coordination and implementation of CRIS upgrades/updates, including: Collect and validate CRIS requests from each laboratory service. Compiles CRIS change requests and submits to DCRI. Coordinates the testing of CRIS changes in all available LIS environments.
• Work with reference lab interfaces related to the LIS, including: Monitor reference laboratory interfaces as appropriate. Troubleshoot communication problems.
• Build, validate, and test all new test requests and any modifications to interfaces to ensure the interface integrity. Assist with validation of all new interface projects (e.g. Mayo Access). Schedule Master Test Guide (website) changes. Coordinate lab test changes with Chief Techs, Senior Staff, and LAN Administrator to update the laboratory website.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results; correct the problem or notify senior staff; document all corrective actions taken.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of four (4) years full-time specialized clinical laboratory experience working in a clinical hospital laboratory.
• Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
• Minimum TWO (2) years full-time experience working with a clinical hospital laboratory information system at a Super User, Analyst, or Administrator level. This LIS experience may be included in the minimum of four (4) years of full-time specialized clinical laboratory experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD public trust; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
• Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

• Preferred fields of study: Biological Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong communications skills, written and spoken.
• Experience/knowledge as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist is preferred.
• SCC SOFT laboratory information system (LIS) experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift 10 – 30 pounds.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.

Salary:

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
