Job summary

Centinela Hospital Medical Center, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking qualified laboratory personnel for the night shift. The role requires ASCP certification, a bachelor’s degree in a chemical/physical/biological science or Medical Laboratory Technology, and a valid state license where required.

You will perform varied lab tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and more, ensuring accuracy and quality in patient results.

Qualifications

  • ASCP certification, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the laboratory’s procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
  • Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions for deviations.
  • Identify problems affecting test performance and report to supervisor or Medical Director.
  • Perform a wide variety of lab procedures using manual and automated methods across departments.
  • Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Review accuracy of patient results prior to reporting.
  • Recognize age-specific differences in test expectations for all ages.
  • Ensure proficiency testing is performed correctly and results reported appropriately.
  • May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture as needed.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of lab policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and HR policies.
  • May be assigned as General Supervisor during shifts and manage LIS/POC responsibilities.
  • Other tasks as assigned by department manager/director.
