Job summary

The Ohio State University’s East Clinical Laboratory is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist - East to join our 24/7 operations. The role performs routine automated and manual tests, reports results, and supports rapid infectious disease testing.

You will verify test requests, manage inquiries, and participate in QC/QA and instrument maintenance. MT-certified B.S. in medical technology required; certification must be obtained within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or biological science with MT certification.
• Must obtain MT certification within one year from the date of hire.
• Meets mandatory hospital education and health surveillance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine automated and manual procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results.
• Manages phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection and testing frequency.
• Uses the laboratory computer system to review reports and call critical values to healthcare professionals.
• Performs and documents quality control, quality assurance and preventative maintenance on instrumentation.
• Provides training for new staff and medical technology students.
