Job summary

Adventist Health Clear Lake in Clearlake, CA seeks an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a 13-week assignment supporting laboratory services at a 25-bed hospital. The CLS will perform laboratory analysis on clinical specimens, evaluate quality controls and specimen integrity, maintain instrumentation, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of results.

Requires California CLS license and a minimum of 2 years' experience in all aspects of the clinical laboratory, with EPIC

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in all aspects of the clinical laboratory.
• EPIC experience – REQUIRED.
• WellSky experience – Highly Preferred.
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality-control procedures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to handle STAT and critical results appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing according to established procedures.
• Review QC, specimen integrity and instrumentation.
• Process STAT orders and report results within required timeframes.
• Communicate critical values to providers.
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation.
• Perform venous and arterial specimen collection when required.
• Maintain reagents, calibrators, controls and laboratory supplies.
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate technical support when needed.
• Support regulatory and accreditation readiness.
• Supervise Laboratory Assistants as needed.
• Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.

Schedule: 5 × 8-Hour Shifts, Monday–Friday

Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Pay Rate: $52–$54/hour

Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,080–$2,160/week
