Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) on Kiawah Island is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a full-time role to support high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical setting.

You will prepare specimens, run routine tests, perform QC, troubleshoot instruments, and communicate results to medical staff. Education and certification requirements apply, with ASCP BOC preferred and certification to be obtained within the first year.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline.
• Certification: ASCP BOC or equivalent certification; certification must be obtained within the first year if not certified.
• Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Perform quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and resolve data issues.
• Communicate technical information to medical staff and laypersons.
• Assist with training of laboratory personnel and participate in continuing education.
• Recognize normal and abnormal values in test results.
