Job summary

Summit Spine and Joint Centers invites applications for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our Southern Pines lab. You will receive and prepare internal patient samples for urinalysis using an LC-MS system, with a focus on accuracy and reliability.

Responsibilities include matching orders to labels, maintaining quality control, documenting in the EMR, and safeguarding patient information. Prior LC-MS experience and familiarity with eClinicalWorks are preferred; a relevant degree is required

Qualifications

• Experience using eClinicalWorks or other EHR system preferred.
• 1 year clinical experience preferred.
• Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Prior experience with LC-MS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.
• Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; calibrating equipment utilizing approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
• Accurately documenting in EMR system.
• Providing updates on testing process as well as reiterating test results if necessary.
• Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
• Maintains patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential.
• Performs other laboratory duties as assigned.

Summary of Position

Reporting to the Lab Director, as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant you are responsible for receiving and preparing internal patient samples for urinalysis utilizing an LC-MS system. Strong attention to detail combined with reliable and consistent work are key to this position.

• Detail-oriented, with an emphasis on precision when accomplishing laboratory tasks.

Education and Experience

• Experience using eClinicalWorks or other EHR system preferred.

• Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Prior experience with LC-MS preferred.

This is a full-time position located in our lab space at our Southern Pines location.
