Job summary

Sthph is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to oversee daily laboratory operations, perform tests and verifications, monitor corrective actions, and provide staff training. The role requires CLS certification from the Louisiana State Board and a degree in Medical Technology with broad knowledge of laboratory departments.

Active license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and ongoing continuing education (12 hours per year) are required; hospital experience is preferred but

Qualifications

• Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from an approved medical laboratory training program.
• Certificate from Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a CLS.
• Experience helpful but not required.
• Knowledge of all areas of laboratory departments; able to analyze QC and QA data and correct problems.
• Must possess good communication skills and write policies and procedures as needed.
• One year of hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Must maintain a valid license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Minimum 12 hours of continuing education per year (CEU).

Responsibilities

• Oversee general day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
• Perform tests and verifications; monitor corrective actions.
• Provide employee training and proficiency test analysis.
• Analyze quality control and quality assurance data; resolve technical problems.
• Ensure instrument performance and order supplies as needed.
