Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician II to perform a variety of laboratory tests to aid in disease diagnosis, including specimen collection and training responsibilities. Independent judgment and certification are required; duties follow the Laboratory Manager’s guidance.

The role is hourly, with pay expected in the range stated, and opportunities for day-one time-off and a comprehensive benefits package. Sign-on bonus options are available for eligible internal candidates.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Technician or equivalent.
• ASCP/AMT CLT certification exam completed or obtained within 1 year of employment.
• Alternative associate degrees acceptable.
• CLT certification (ASCP/AMT) required prior to employment.
• Minimum 3 years CLT experience.

Expected pay for this position is $29.30 - $34.47/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Laboratory Technician II performs a variety of laboratory testing to aid in the diagnosis of disease,which may also include specimen collection, training personnel, and students. Duties include performing quality control, preventive maintenance on equipment, and minor troubleshooting with referral of complex issues to senior employees. Independent judgment and professional education and certification are required. This position has additional responsibilities that are delegated by the Laboratory Manager and/or Lab Supervisor based on the needs of the Laboratory Department.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: An associate’s degree as a Clinical Laboratory Technician.
• Successful completion of the ASCP or AMT Board of Certification CLT exam or obtained within the first year of employment
• Alternative associate degrees are acceptable.
• Successful completion of ASCP or AMT CLT certification exam prior to employment.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years CLT experience.
• License/Certifications: CLT(ASCP) or (AMT)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Other Skills/Knowledge: Ability to work on multiple tasks at one time with good organizational skills, judgment and technical skills. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians and other clinical personnel when responding to routine inquires and reporting laboratory results. Analytical skills necessary in order to interpret routine tests, recognize abnormal test results and troubleshoot equipment. High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations
