Job summary

Labcorp is seeking an entry-level Technician in Calabasas, CA. You will participate in specimen testing under the supervision of a Clinical Lab Scientist, recording reagent and kit data, performing pipetting, and maintaining equipment logs with strong adherence to SOPs and safety rules.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science and comfort working in a fast-paced lab environment. Flexibility for overtime and a collaborative, detail-focused mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in specimen testing according to established procedures under the oversight of a Clinical Lab Scientist.
  • Record dates of receipt, in use, and expiration for reagents, kits, controls, and standards.
  • Ensure material used is not expired prior to use.
  • Perform pipetting using preset devices and calibrated equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and document PM activities.
  • Adhere to SOPs and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulators.
  • Document all activities including maintenance logs, checks, troubleshooting and quality control.
  • Develop understanding of laboratory medicine and clinical significance of results.

Work Schedule: Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8:00am - 6:30pm.

Job Responsibilities
  • Participate in specimen testing according to established procedures working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Lab Scientist
  • Record dates of receipt, in use, and expiration for all reagents, kits, controls, and standards used for assigned assays.
  • Ensure material used is not expired prior to use
  • Perform pipetting using pre-set devices, calibrated and approved automatic devices or fixed volume dispensers
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, document PM appropriately, and immediately contact appropriate personnel for problems requiring complex instrument repairs
  • Adhere to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies
  • Document all activities as necessary including preventative maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting, and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Develop an ever-increasing understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical significance of laboratory results
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
Preferred Qualification
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • 1 year or more of lab experience

Pay Range: $24.00- $30.00 per hour plus shift differential All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
