Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in science (copy of degree or transcript required).
• Registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician with ASCP or NCA.
• B.S. degree or higher in Medical Lab Science, Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry (copy of degree or transcript required).
• One-year ASCP program internship or other acceptable work experience (high school diploma or transcript required).
• B.S. degree and completion of an approved Medical technology internship program.
• Registration as a Medical Technologist with ASCP or NCA.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical testing in conformance with laboratory procedures and physician orders.
• Maintains proficiency in all areas assigned (Blood Bank, Serology, Coagulation, Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology).
• Prepares reagents, standards, controls, stains and culture media as necessary.
• Troubleshoots instruments and performs preventive maintenance.
• Transcribes test data for reporting accurately.
• Maintains QC program including verification of methods and review of data.
• Assists supervisor and acts as technical reference in their absence.
• Involved in test validations, instrument interfaces and LIS projects.
• Maintains manuals in compliance with CAP/NCCLS standards.
