Job summary

Salem Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Lab Clinical Services team at Salem Hospital. The MLS will perform advanced testing, ensure QA/QC, and support accreditation standards in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires MLS/MLT certification with 12 CEUs annually and provides a full-time schedule with 40 hours/week in a lab setting, including evenings and rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program of medical technology or MLS/MLT equivalent.
• Certification as MLT (ASCP/AMT) for MLT roles, or MLS/MT certification within six months for MLS/MT roles.
• Participation in a minimum of 12 CEUs per year.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory testing accurately with minimal supervision and reports results within turnaround times.
• Processes specimens correctly and verifies results before release for patient care.
• Maintains knowledge of LIS and performs routine instrument maintenance.
• Performs quality control procedures and documents issues to ensure compliance.
• Participates in continuing education and staff training.
