Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Clinical Lab Scientist-Lead serves as an advanced-level resource responsible for coordinating complex testing activities, ensuring workflow continuity, and promoting adherence to quality and regulatory standards. Applies in-depth technical knowledge to assist with problem-solving, validation, and process optimization. Collaborates closely with peers, Supervisors, and leadership to support operational readiness, quality improvement, and staff development. Provides technical mentorship, facilitates communication, and contributes to the integration of new methods, technologies, and best practices. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required. Two years of experience in a high complexity, computerized clinical laboratory as a licensed Clinical Lab Scientist required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Possesses excellent dexterity and ability to plan and organize technical work, manage workload, operate technical instruments and equipment, input data and type. Possesses clear speaking abilities in English. Possesses excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills in English matching the style to the message and the audience. Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships with all customers (e.g., staff, patients, vendors). Ability to use available resource material independently to resolve and document challenges constructively. Provides staff and management with timely information, constructive and actionable feedback. Fosters cooperation and collaboration, actively solicits opinions from others. Builds respect and trust. Inspires staff with enthusiasm for the strategic plan. Must be able to supervise, lead, and teach CLS staff. Explains and teaches. Responds to guidance constructively. Detail oriented. Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications:

California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist MTA license is required. For Histocompatibility, a California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist MTR license is acceptable. Specialty certification in area overseen preferred.
