Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and special procedures to obtain data for diagnosis and patient care. You will verify patient information, organize workload, and operate essential instruments to ensure timely results.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in a laboratory science and ASCP certifications (MLS/MT/MB variants). You will train staff, handle STAT requests, maintain quality controls, and follow safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology.
• MLS/ASCP/other national certifications as listed (MLS-ASCP, MT-ASCP, MB-ASCP, MT-AAB, HT-ASCP, MT-STATE, MT-NCA, CT-ASCP, etc.).
• Licensure/certification required or equivalent credentials as specified.

Responsibilities

• Determines suitability of specimens and orders by verifying patient information and troubleshooting erroneous orders.
• Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet medical staff needs and avoid重复 work.
• Performs routine and special testing procedures, evaluates results and troubleshoots abnormalities.
• Responds to STAT requests providing timely services; assists with specimen troubleshooting and workload to meet turnaround times.
• Maintains quality control documentation and trains new employees; serves as in-charge technologist in supervisor's absence.
