Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Manteca is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist for per diem shifts. You will be responsible for processing and testing laboratory specimens while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Process and test laboratory specimens accurately and timely.

Job Summary

Shift: Rotate Job shift: Per Diem

Responsibilities

• Process and test all types of laboratory specimens accurately and in a timely manner
• Review and report lab results
• Perform operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel
• Work cooperatively with laboratory, medical and hospital personnel to maintain standards for professional laboratory practices
• May supervise laboratory staff in the absence of the Director
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489, or have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination prior to 2/28/92 42 CFR 493.1491. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489 and 42 CFR 493.1491).

Licenses / Certifications

Current/Active California State Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Registered or registry eligible in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non‑US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Experience Required

Prefer 6 months to 1 year medical laboratory technologist, clinical laboratory scientist experience in an acute care facility.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Knowledge of EMTALA, HIPAA and other applicable regulations, including patient confidentiality and risk management
• Ability to communicate clearly and with courtesy with all members of the healthcare team, following lines of authority as appropriate
• Proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunications in documentation, tracking and conveying information
• Ability to retain composure while working in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment
• Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Must be fluent in spoken and written English
• Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position

Compensation

$42.93 - $66.52 hourly. Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.
