Personalis in Fremont, CA, seeks a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform and report clinical laboratory testing for diagnostic use. The role involves following procedures for specimen handling, NGS processes, test analyses and patient result documentation.

The position is onsite full-time with a 3rd shift (Thu-Mon, 10:00pm–6:30am) and potential shift premiums. Candidates must hold California CLS or CGMBS licensure and have 0–4 years of lab experience; extensive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sciences or related disciplines is required.
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license OR CGMBS license is required or preferred.
• 0-4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting; licensure essential for practice.

Responsibilities

• Maintain updated knowledge of lab methods and communicate findings to physicians.
• Supervise lab activities in absence of onsite manager.
• Identify problems affecting test performance or reporting and address or escalate.

Job description

At Personalis, we are transforming the active management of cancer through breakthrough personalized testing. We aim to drive a new paradigm for cancer management, guiding care from biopsy through the life of the patient. Our highly sensitive assays combine tumor-and-normal profiling with proprietary algorithms to deliver advanced insights even as cancer evolves over time. Our products are designed to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) and recurrence at the earliest timepoints, enable selection of targeted therapies based on ultra-comprehensive genomic profiling, and enhance biomarker strategy for drug development. Personalis is based in Fremont, California.

Summary: In our lab, we foster a positive, friendly and team-based environment where we all pitch in to help achieve our common goals and support each other. We offer a dynamic atmosphere where you will have the opportunity to work on multiple benches such as extractions, Library prep, and sequencing. You will also partner with our lab assistants and coordinate with them on pre-analytical & post analytical tasks.

Our Clinical Lab Scientists perform and report clinical lab testing on samples used by physicians in the diagnostic and treatment of patients. This will entail following the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and next generation sequencing processes, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.

Onsite: 5 days a week

Available Shifts:

Thursday - Monday, 10:00pm - 6:30 am

Training hours may be at different shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain updated understanding and knowledge of the methods employed in the lab and the use of the resulting information by physicians through continuing education activities
• Supervise the activities of the lab in the absence of an onsite manager
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or notify management
• Participate in activities which support all necessary licensure for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on-site inspections of the laboratory
• Trains other CLS personnel and other staff in laboratory methods. Monitor the activities of non-licensed personnel as needed
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures, quality control policies and activities including required documentation necessary to ensure compliance
• May be required to assist in assay development activities
• Other duties as required

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sciences or related disciplines
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license OR CGMBS license
• 0-4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Beneficial to have experience with manual DNA/RNA extractions, manual library prep and working with a microtome

The hiring range for this position is $56.25 to $66.00 per hour, which may factor in various geographic regions. The 3rd shift would be eligible for an additional shift premium of 20%. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus (or a sales incentive plan) and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
