Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Tech II to perform complex pre-analytic specimen receiving and processing with strict safety and accuracy standards. You will handle specimen receipt, verification, processing, and storage, using lab automation and ensuring patient identification throughout the workflow.

Responsibilities include sending out specimens to referral labs, preparing kits, and maintaining related documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a health or science related field; 1 year experience in a clinical lab preferred.
• Demonstrates organizational ability and follows directions accurately.
• Demonstrates professional communication skills and proper telephone etiquette.
• Able to multi-task and be very detail-oriented; proficient with computers and health records systems.

Responsibilities

• Specimen receipt, identification verification, processing, and storage using lab automation.
• Prepare and package mail-out kits; ensure accurate patient identification.
• Assist with training new staff and development of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Assist consultants with specimen collection and research; triage specimens by complexity and history.
