Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred formal phlebotomy training.
• Preferred 1 year hospital-based phlebotomy experience.
• Louisiana License as a Laboratory Assistant or Laboratory Assistant Trainee within 180 days from date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection in accordance with department protocols within turnaround time goals.
• Processes orders accurately including accessioning and delivery to testing departments; transcription and add-on tests.
• Performs waived testing with minimal errors; quality control and documentation; escalate issues as needed.
• Order supplies, manage inventory, and maintain equipment; support patient interactions with privacy and respect.
• Adapts communication to the patient population and adheres to compliance standards.
