Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal phlebotomy training preferred.
• 1 year hospital-based phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs specimen collection in accordance with department protocols and turnaround time goals.
• Processes orders accurately including accessioning, delivery to testing departments, order transcription, add-on tests, specimen rejection, and reconciliation of pending reports.
• Performs waived testing with minimal errors within established time frames and supports microbiology set ups per protocols.
• Correctly performs and documents quality control and ensures documentation of corrective action; submits performance improvement data.
• Orders, inventories and stocks supplies to ensure adequate pare levels; changes printer ribbons and labels as needed.
• Adapts communication and service style to the patient population, respecting privacy and obtaining permissions when needed.
• Other related duties as required.
