Job summary

The Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks a board-certified (or eligible) Clinical Geneticist to join the Division of Clinical and Translational Genetics.

The role focuses on inborn errors of metabolism and metabolic genetic disease, guiding metabolic patient care with a collaborative team and contributing to resident education, newborn screening follow-up, and clinical research.

Qualifications

• MD degree required.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Clinical Genetics through ABMGG or equivalent.
• Eligible for medical licensure in Florida.
• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills for working with patients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient clinical genetics consultation across pediatric-to-adult lifespan, with emphasis on inborn errors of metabolism.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients referred through newborn screening and follow-up testing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary genetics clinics, metabolism, neurology, dietetics, and related fields.
• Order and interpret molecular and biochemical testing; provide treatment, genetic counseling, and family risk assessment.
• Contribute to teaching and supervision within the Medical Genetics Residency Program.
• Engage in clinical or translational research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Participate in departmental committees and quality initiatives.
