UCI in Newport Beach is looking for an incumbent to assist with fitness evaluations, including various cardio respiratory and physiological tests. Responsibilities involve monitoring patient conditions and making judgment calls during tests.
The ideal candidate will have skills in managing testing situations, excellent organizational skills, and be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. UCI offers a comprehensive benefits package and is dedicated to inclusive hiring practices.
Under general direction, the incumbent will assist with the execution of fitness evaluations as broadly outlined by academic supervisors. The testing will include, but is not limited to, cardio respiratory stress testing (with and without oxygen uptake measurements), muscular strength and endurance, abdominal endurance, flexibility and body composition measurements. Other measurements may include basic physiological parameters (blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight, pulmonary function and resting 12-lead ECG). Monitor patient symptoms, blood pressure and EKG tracing during treadmill testing. Use judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness in making testing decisions, consulting with the academic supervisor on a case by case basis.
