Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking a Clinical Engineering Imaging Technician III to independently diagnose, repair, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on imaging equipment across IR/Cath, CT, MRI and LINAC systems while supporting assigned devices with minimal vendor support.

You will work Monday-Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with a Northeast Ohio focus, document CMMS entries, provide technical expertise to caregivers, train teammates, and communicate equipment readiness to leadership.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or higher in engineering technology or related field.
• Experience with medical imaging devices and radiology equipment preferred.
• Ability to diagnose, repair, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on imaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair imaging equipment across IR/Cath, CT, MRI and LINAC modalities.

As a Clinical Engineering (CE) Imaging Technician III, you will independently diagnose, repair, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on Imaging equipment in one or more of the modalities of interventional radiology (IR)/Cath and EP Labs, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and linear accelerators (LINAC) while supporting assigned systems with minimal vendor support.

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday, 8:00am—5:00pm, with a primary focus in Northeast Ohio.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Analyze system failures of medical imaging systems and perform repairs in accordance with manufacturer protocol within time standards set by service level agreements.

• Perform preventive maintenance on complex medical systems and develop preventive maintenance procedures based on site specific requirements incorporating usage and other performance metrics.

• Perform incoming inspections of new equipment and complete documentation for CMMS database.

• Act as an enterprise resource providing technical expertise on the assigned imaging equipment.

• Provide on-the-job cross training to fellow technicians for devices they are trained on.

• Communicate medical device readiness and serviceability status of assigned equipment to clinical and non-clinical caregivers - including progress updates / reports for senior leaders.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering Technology.

• Two years of Cleveland Clinic CE Imaging Tech I experience

• OR four years of experience working with X-ray generating equipment, interventional radiology, portable/fixed X-Ray rooms, mammography, Linear Accelerators, CT scanners, MRI machines, Nuclear Medical imaging equipment, or other similar complex medical systems.

• Equivalent specialized OR military training may substitute for the degree.

• OR High School diploma/GED and four years of CC Clinical Engineering Tech experience OR six years outside experience maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment OR equipment in a mechanical or electrical technician field and successful completion of a radiological service training program from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) OR Radiological Service Institute Training (RSTI) equivalent certification

• OR Bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering OR IT technical field and may substitute for the required experience.

• Successful completion of a radiological service training program from an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or 3rd party training company.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical demands include ability to move 50 pounds; to climb 8-foot ladders and work on overhead equipment.

• Ability to work in prone positions and in confined, darkened areas.

• Manual dexterity to use tools and work on small mechanical parts.

• Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish colors used for wire color coding and read finely printed blueprints and schematics.
