RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick is hiring a Clinical Endoscopy Technician to support diagnostic GI care. You will assist physicians and nurses during procedures, prep rooms, manage equipment, verify patient identity, and uphold infection control standards.

This hourly role requires a High School diploma, BLS certification, and CCT experience; SGNA GI Tech certification is a plus. On-call rotations may include weekday nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Previous Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) experience required.
  • SGNA GI Technical Specialist Certification preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of medical terminology and general anatomy.
  • Weekday night and weekend on-call coverage rotations required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting physicians and nursing staff directly during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Reviewing planned cases in advance, anticipating equipment and instrumentation needs, and ensuring rooms are fully prepared for efficient workflows.
  • Overseeing the specialized care, precise handling, and proper maintenance of complex endoscopy equipment and high-tech scopes.
  • Verifying physician orders, confirming correct patient identification using two distinct identifiers, and safely instructing patients on the upcoming procedure.
  • Proactively identifying and reporting safety issues, including hazardous environments, equipment errors, or technical defects.
  • Complying strictly with healthcare infection control protocols, departmental safety initiatives, and medical terminology documentation standards.

Education

Clinical Endoscopy Technician
Our Clinical Endoscopy Technicians work collaboratively to promote optimal diagnostic clarity and prevent delays in gastrointestinal care for both inpatient and outpatient populations. Functioning as a vital member of the healthcare team, you will perform selected patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. By providing comprehensive procedural assistance and high-quality equipment management, our technicians proactively engage with patients to provide connection and clinical clarity. A Typical Day:
