Job summary

Animas Surgical Hospital in Durango, CO seeks an EHR Support, Clinical to install, maintain, and optimize the Cerner EHR, providing data analysis, reporting, and technical assistance to support patient care and compliance.

This role requires data abstraction, regulatory education, and leading system projects, with on-call rotation and a focus on clinical workflow improvements.

Qualifications

• BSN required; BS in Data Analytics, Data Science, CIS or equivalent experience preferred.
• Experience with EHR systems (Cerner preferred), data abstraction, analytics and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and document business requirements for EHR projects; translate workflows into functional specifications.
• Serve as liaison for providers, clinical staff, and stakeholders; consult on clinical and business processes.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to design analyses that identify care improvement opportunities and measure outcomes.
• Assess, develop, and maintain clinical applications to optimize workflow and patient care.
• Identify and recommend process enhancements to improve system automation and clinical workflow.
• Conduct data analysis for clinical improvements, regulatory compliance, and system enhancements.
• Act as a clinical resource and subject matter expert, integrating nursing expertise with IT solutions.
• Guide teams in system usage, monitor effectiveness, and manage system updates.
• Implement and oversee system testing, user training, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with security protocols to protect patient health information.
• Maintain knowledge of legal, regulatory, and practice standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support.

Job Title: EHR Support, Clinical

Job Summary: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Provides data analysis, report development, and technical assistance. Supports program activities related to patient care, regulatory compliance, and education. Conducts data collection and abstraction while leading system and data projects requiring advanced expertise.

Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer

Hourly range: $24.87-$49.85 (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)

Essential Job Functions

Minimum Requirements

Education: BSN required; BS in Data Analytics, Data Science, CIS, or equivalent experience preferred.

Certification, Licensure: BSN Colorado License or Compact License

Experience, Training, Knowledge: Minimum 4 years in direct patient care, 2 years in clinical applications support. Experience with EHR systems (Cerner preferred), data abstraction, analytics, and reporting tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements: This position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to fifty (50)+ pounds while administering care to patients. Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily in delivery of patient care. Standing and walking for more than five (5) hours per day; running occasionally in responding to patient care emergencies.

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures: Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS – Aligns with CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel

• Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
• Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
• Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
• Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
• Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
• Tuberculosis Screening - Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
• VACCINE RECORDS OR EVIDENCE OF IMMUNITY ARE REQUIRED PRIOR TO 1ST DAY OF SCHEDULED WORK
