Job summary

Tenet Healthcare seeks a Clinical Educator (Per Diem) to enhance nursing education and professional development across the perinatal continuum. You will serve as learning facilitator, mentor, and change agent, guiding staff toward organizational goals.

The role requires a nursing degree, CA licensure, and 5+ years of clinical experience in the specialty. Proficiency in MS Office and adult-learning principles is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and active California license.
  • 5+ years clinical experience in the specialty to educate perinatal staff.
  • Demonstrated competency in perinatal continuum of care.
  • Strong computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Excellent relationship management and professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional application.
  • Experience with change management and facilitating change processes.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and with a team.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Flexible hours to meet education needs (day, night, weekend).
  • Maintains current education and regulatory knowledge.
  • BLS/ACLS/NRP/Fetal Monitoring provider status current.

The Clinical Educator (Professional Development Practitioner) is an experienced professional nurse who utilizes evidence-based practice for the achievement of organizational goals related to nursing education and professional development. The Clinical Educator serves in the following roles to guide the learner to desired organizational outcomes: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, a champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for the nursing professional development specialty, and partner for practice transitions for nursing staff. The Clinical Educator possesses in-depth scientific knowledge, technical expertise, skill, and competence.

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Current, unencumbered licensure to practice in the State of California
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in teaching adult learners
  • Minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience in the specialty for which the applicant desires to become educator
  • Demonstrated competency and ability to perform all duties within the perinatal continuum of care
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Exceptional relationship management skills and professional demeanor. Exemplifies elevated nursing practice, higher education, and professional growth and development.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to apply them in course instruction
  • Understanding of change management principles. Ability to be a change agent by being a champion for change and participating in change processes
  • Proven ability in critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, analytical/qualitative analysis, time management and priority setting
  • Demonstrated ability to function both autonomously and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet education needs of all nursing staff (day, night, weekend shifts)
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned
  • Maintains current knowledge regarding education and regulatory requirements
  • BLS/ACLS/NRP/Fetal Heart Monitoring provider status current at all times
Preferred:
  • Master Degree in Nursing
  • Previous experience as an educator or clinical instructor
  • Current Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor credential
  • Certification in specialty (e.g., CCRN, CEN, CMSRN, CNOR, etc.) nursing education (CNE), or nursing professional development (NPD-BC)
  • Active membership in relevant professional organization
