Job summary

UT Health San Antonio’s School of Dentistry, within the Department of Predoctoral Dental Education, seeks an Assistant Professor/Clinical, Non-Tenure Track to serve as Assistant Program Director for the AEGD program. The role combines clinical practice with resident education and day-to-day program operations.

The candidate will support the Program Director, mentor residents, monitor quality, and help ensure accreditation standards are met while fostering an outstanding educational environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) or General Practice Residency (GPR) program.
• Minimum of three years of clinical experience in comprehensive general dentistry.
• Demonstrate leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Program Director in the daily management of AEGD clinical operations.
• Supervise and mentor AEGD residents during patient care, providing clinical instruction and consultation.
• Assist in monitoring clinical productivity, quality assurance, patient safety, and compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with faculty, clinical staff, and administrative personnel to optimize patient flow, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in resident evaluations, competency assessments, and clinical performance reviews.
• Assist with implementation of clinical policies, workflows, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Support recruitment, orientation, and onboarding of residents and faculty assigned.
• Participate in departmental, school, and university committees and meetings.
• Promote a collaborative, patient-centered, and educational environment that supports excellence in clinical care.
