Job summary

Frederick Health seeks an Education Coordinator to coordinate, teach, and develop classes and programs for the FH Clinical Education Center, aligning with federal/state regulations and FH policies for high standards in patient care and staff development.

This role applies adult-learning principles, coordinates Nursing Orientation, Nursing Residency, student affiliations, and continuing education while complying with FH Compliance Program.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field; Baccalaureate in area of practice required.
  • BLS/CPR Certification.
  • National Certification in Nursing Professional Development within one year of hire.
  • MBON RN license or compact state equivalent.
  • Three to five years’ healthcare education experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Implements strategies for achieving competence and improving performance using adult education principles.
  • Uses current knowledge of education design, teaching and evaluation methods.
  • Develops staff education programming and competency development for age-specific clinical areas.
  • Acts as educational consultant and coordinates Nursing Orientation.
  • Plans, monitors, and evaluates educational programs and resources.

Coordinates, teaches, and develops classes and educational programs and projects for the FH Clinical Education Center. Functions within limits of Federal and State regulatory bodies, and FH policies and procedures.

Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Example Of Essential Functions
  • Implements strategies for achieving competence and improving performance using adult education and learning principles and processes.
  • Uses current knowledge of education design, teaching and evaluation methods.
  • Considers age specific population needs of clinical areas of responsibility in developing staff education programming and competency development.
  • Serves as educational consultant.
  • Assesses, develops, implements, monitors and evaluates educational programs.
  • Provides input/recommendations related to program resources and feasibility.
  • Keeps multiple programs on schedule and coordinates program activities with FMH initiatives.
  • Manages projects and convenes project teams
  • Provides input to project resources and making recommendations.
  • Serves as an education expert to all FMH employees.
  • Provides ongoing learning and self-improvement activities.
  • Reviews current literature for appropriate application in continuing education programs.
  • Disseminates information on available education programs.
  • Plans own professional development and education.
  • Supports Nursing Residency program.
  • Coordinates Student Affiliations.
  • Understands and ensures Regulatory compliance in orientation content and ongoing clinical competencies.
  • Assesses, develops, implements, monitors and evaluates Nursing Orientation.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Able to apply adult learning principles in education design, presentation, teaching and evaluation methods.
  • Able to apply effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to apply project management methodologies and quality improvement principles to assigned projects and programs.
  • Able to maintain up-to-date knowledge in area of practice.
Minimum Education, Training, And Experience Required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred; Baccalaureate Degree in area of practice is required.
  • BLS/CPR Certification
  • National Certification in area of specialty (Nursing Professional Development) within one year of hire or when eligible.
  • MBON RN license or compact state equivalent
  • Three to five years experience in area of practice required, acute care experience required
  • Two years previous healthcare education/training experience preferred
Patient Contact

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

Physical Demands

Sedentary - Light Work - Lifting up to 15 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes). While work is mostly done sitting, a certain amount of walking or standing is often necessary.

Schedule

Full time position, 72hrs/per pay period, weekday with flexibility for early morning or evening classes as needed.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.

Pay range: $34.66 Min - $48.80/hr Max
