Job summary

Datavant is seeking a part-time Clinical Documentation Quality Improvement (CDQI) Audit Specialist to evaluate the quality, accuracy and compliance of CDI reviews. The Auditor provides education, feedback and performance monitoring to support CDI program improvement, impacting patient care and reimbursement.

The role requires 5+ years of CDI experience, RN/BSN with CCDS/CDIP, and experience with Epic, Cerner and other CDI tools. Equity and privacy are essential in this HIPAA‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CDI experience and/or auditing.
• 3+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• RN or BSN with CCDS or CDIP certification
• Must pass CDI skills competency assessment
• Experience with various EMRs and CDI software including Epic, Cerner, 3M, Iodine, etc.
• Ability to function in a professional, efficient and positive manner
• Strong organizational, teamwork and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct retrospective and concurrent audits of CDI reviews to ensure accurate documentation and compliant query generation.
• Review missed opportunities impacting reimbursement and quality reporting; collaborate to ensure appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity.
• Evaluate staff adherence to workflows, policies and industry standards.
• Maintain audit tools, scoring methodologies and documentation.
• Provide individualized feedback and education plans based on audit findings.
• Participate in onboarding and mentoring new CDI staff.
• Deliver educational presentations on documentation, coding and regulatory updates.
• Collaborate with Physician Advisor on opportunities and trends.
• Monitor program performance indicators such as query rates and CC/MCC capture.
• Maintain PHI confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and governance standards.
• Meet or exceed production, quality and performance metrics with accurate audits.
