Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist to review inpatient records and ensure accurate coding and DRG assignment. The role requires RN licensure and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, with experience in clinical documentation improvement and interdepartmental collaboration.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with a 40-hour work week, day shifts, and a pay range of $38.20 to $57.30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in nursing.
• RN licensure in applicable state.
• 5 years of related nursing experience preferred (clinical).
• Extensive knowledge of disease processes and clinical outcomes.
• Case management experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to identify principal and secondary diagnoses.
• Assign MS-DRG reflecting severity of illness.
• Use licensed software tool to perform and record daily reviews.
• Clarify vague documentation with physicians and healthcare team.
• Collaborate with coding, compliance, quality and finance teams.
• Educate physicians and staff on documentation improvement opportunities.
